Laura Baron serves as SCF’s Chief Financial Officer, overseeing a finance and compliance team. She takes on this role in a consultant capacity through her role at Strategic Development Solutions (SDS).
Ms. Baron joined SDS in 2009 as Vice President and Controller and now serves as CFO. She oversees the financial profitability for all divisions and subsidiaries, guiding growth and providing strategic direction to the company. Developed the internal operational infrastructure to manage SDS and its varying subsidiaries including National New Markets Fund, LLC, an allocation of federal tax credits for real-estate projects in low-income communities. She oversees all operational and financial processes from project analysis and management to accounting and regulatory compliance for all SDS divisions and subsidiaries and helps guide the company’s growth and strategic direction.
Ms. Baron is a CPA and previously spent 12 years as a finance and portfolio operations executive. She has managed more than $2 billion in assets for firms including Ryland Homes, Wilshire Associates, and Trust Company of the West. Ms. Baron’s passion for community development extends beyond her work at SDS. Ms. Baron is passionate about helping underserved communities and participates in special projects to assist public charter schools achieve fiscal responsibility.
