Kim LaFranchi serves as SCF’s Chief Operations Officer, responsible for undertaking or managing the majority of day-to-day organizational activities, both operational and programmatic (since 2011). She works directly with the finance- and program-related consulting staff to oversee the organization’s operations, financials, budget, and to deploy and monitor SCF’s investment portfolio. Core responsibilities also include talking a lead role in undertaking all program investment activities (both PRI and MRI), asset management (co-lead), board
management, report and plan generation, capital raising lead/application writer, website/marketing, and policy and procedures design and implementation.
Additionally, Ms. LaFranchi was Vice President of Strategic Development Solutions (SDS), a leader in impact investing, since its inception in 2001 (thru 2018). In this role, she worked in partnership with various regional and national nonprofit organizations to help plan and
implement new funding initiatives. She has secured more than $13 million in government and foundation grants, loans and contracts for SDS’ clients. She worked on New Markets Tax Credit applications for SDS as well as for its clients.
Ms. LaFranchi has extensive experience working with the Los Angeles region’s nonprofit sector as a service provider in an array of settings. As a mental health therapist and case manager, she worked with children and adults in public and private school systems, the criminal justice system, mental and medical hospitals, homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment programs and community clinics serving low-income communities. She also participated in research projects focused on at-risk populations. Ms. LaFranchi is an avid traveler who has spent extensive time visiting developing nations and engaging with diverse cultures across the globe. These travels have instilled in her a desire to help achieve social and economic justice for disenfranchised communities.
